Pilates

Pilates is a form of exercise which emphasizes the balanced development of the body through core strength, flexibility and awareness in order to support efficient movement and keep the body aligned. The main focus is on strengthening the body core i.e. the abdominals, back muscles and pelvic floor muscles.

By creating a bridge between the body and mind, Pilates enables us to be in control of the body, decrease stress and deal with everyday things more easily and effectively. Can increase flexibility by strengthening and stretching the deeper muscles of the spine, preventing injuries and alleviating back pain.

Due to its holistic approach, the Pilates method is highly recommended by Osteopaths, Physiotherapists and General Practitioners as it is one of the safest forms of exercise.

Pilates can be beneficial for just about everyone regardless of age and fitness level and can be easily modified from gentle to challenging depending on your fitness level and goals.

Joseph Pilates himself was still performing and perfecting his methodology well into his 80s.
